This Is The Last Night...

So tonight is the last night I will be staying in this house as a tenant. Tomorrow night I'll be staying at my mom's so we can pack up her car with my boxes from her place (dishes and whatnot...) and head out in the morning, then Saturday night I'll be in my new place. I have so many mixed emotions about this! I mean, I'm super excited to be getting my own place, but these girls I've lived with for the past 10 months (or 1 month with Carolyn lol) have become family, and I will miss them greatly!!!

I know I'm always welcome for a sleep-over, but it's just not the same as living here, ya know? I mean, I can't spent EVERY night over here... It makes me sad knowing that this room I'm in now won't be my room anymore. I'm excited that it will be Carolyn's room, but I'll miss it. Looking at the walls, they're so bare, and even Debby was like, "Where's Stacey's room???" cuz my walls have been covered with pictures and stuff.

It's been weird to have had bare walls this past week... The only things I don't have packed right now is last-minute stuff like deodorant, shower stuff, toiletries, facial tissues, and my oil air freshener stuff. And the stuff I forgot to pack haha my hangers, my house coat, my Snuggie-type blanket, and my pink feathers hanging on my light cord. Oh yeah and my cross hanging on my doorknob, but that one was more intentional...

I went to chat with Carolyn tonight after my shower, cuz I was on the edge of tears and I didn't wanna cry alone... So she prayed for me, and we chatted about different things lol we definitely got really sidetracked, but it was good cuz I felt better =) So now I'm back in my room and ready to head to bed, I just needed to get some of my thoughts written. Gonna head to bed and hopefully have a good last sleep here... Bah, that sounds so morbid...

Apple Crisp Recipe

Here it is, as promised! It is my mother's recipe, and she got it from someone else, whom I'm pretty sure got it from someone else... Gotta love recipes like that eh? =) Makes 9x9, but easily doubles for 9x13!

3/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup flour
3/4 cup oats
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup melted butter/margarine

Mix all together with a fork until well blended. Press about half the mixture into buttered pan and save the rest for later.

1 cup sugar
2 tbsp cornstarch
1 cup water

Mix sugar and cornstarch in a small pot. Add water and cook on medium heat until thickens.

3-4 apples (I use 3 Gala apples or 4 Macintosh)

Peel, core, and slice apples and spread over pressed crumble mix in pan. Cover apples with thickened cornstarch sauce; top with rest of crumble mix.
Bake at 350F for 1 hour.

So simple! =) I made a 9x13 AND a 9x9 tonight! The 9x9 is for the potluck lunch tomorrow at the daycare, and the 9x13 is for the community BBQ at my mom's tomorrow evening. You can even substitute the apples with any kind of fruit you want! I believe the recipe calls for 3 cups...

I'm off to bed now, I'm at least TRYING to get to bed by 10:30 lately, mornings are just getting too tough... Enjoy your apple crisp! =)

Overcoming Anxieties

I've been meaning to post about this for a while now, but I keep forgetting! I've been working on overcoming some of my fears/anxieties, notably snakes and feet.

I've always thought snakes were cool, but I'd never actually touch one. Oh that's not true, I held a giant python (I think?) one time at daycare, it was so heavy that I held the tail end and one of the daycare staff held the head end, and we were both still like, "too heavy!" Anyways, other than that, I'd only ever touched a garder snake, and only with my sleeves covering my skin. But now that my friend Brandy has a ball python, I've been starting to get over my anxiety of actually touching a snake. It took a few visits, at first I would just pet him with my finger, then I held him but with my sleeves covering my skin, then I poked my hands out but wouldn't let him touch my arms, then I let him crawl around my arms, and now I'm totally cool with him! I even let him go around the back of my neck! He's actually a really cool snake, we're totally BFFs haha! =)

As for feet, I've hated feet for a long time, I'm not really sure what sparked that... But I would hate touching feet, hated people touching my feet, hated being touched by feet, and hated my feet touching anything (except for like socks/slippers/shoes/etc...). But with Brandy (haha seems to be a pattern starting here with her... =P), I've been overcoming that too! She loves feet, and I let her give me a quick foot massage a few weeks ago, but I was still really tense about it... But I'm at the point now where even last night I gave her a foot massage and I was pretty cool with it. But that foot massage was more about the fact that it was Mothers Day, and even though she's not MY mother, her son is only 14.5 months old and not old enough to really do anything for her, AND it's always great to get a foot massage =) Perhaps another day I'll let her (or someone else, doesn't have to be her haha) give me a longer foot massage, and I'll try to just enjoy it rather than being tense about it...

Anyways, another thing I wanna tackle is my fear of spiders. I HATE spiders even to the point where I'm almost screaming when I find the tiniest spider! I'm even cringing right now as I think about spiders, I hate them so much! But that will come in time =) Right now I need to get back to work on a cross-stitch project! It's supposed to be done as a gift for my friend's wedding this coming Saturday, but there is no way I'll be able to get it done by then... But it still doesn't hurt to work on it when I can, since I'll have to get packing one of these days! =) Adios amigos! Stay tuned for a fave troll possibly coming later on tonight, and my apple crisp recipe in the next couple days! =)

Okay, seeing as I haven't posted any fave trolls lately either, here's one I found tonight: a corgi that dances for kibble, so cute, I laughed so hard!!! =)

The Daily What

Lots to Update!

Wow, I haven't updated this blog for a long while! Got lots to update y'all about!

First thing's first, I GOT MY APARTMENT!!!!!!! =D I went to check it out with my mom, we both really liked it! North-facing window so I won't get the hot sun come summer, PLUS there's air conditioning, woohoo! It's a high-rise, so there's an elevator, and I'm on the 5th floor. It's totally walking distance to the Forks (it's actually just over the Provencher bridge...), so that's super exciting! So I definitely applied for it the next morning, and it turned out that I was the only applicant! I got a phone call that same day saying I got the apartment, it was so awesome!!!!! =D So I move in June 1st, yay!!!

Next! I've been doing a LOT of stitching these past couple weeks, I have 4 projects to get done that I had auctioned at our Partners in Mission dinner, plus I'm trying to get a project done for my friend's wedding on the 15th... So the wedding one has been the one worked on this past weekend, considering the wedding's only two weeks away so it's really gotta get done lol!

Speaking of this past weekend, I went to Women's Camp at Camp Arnes, it was soooo fun!!! Our theme was "Unfolding Grace", and our guest speaker was Nancy Turley. She's a cool woman, easy to listen to =) but 2/3 of our sessions were in the Wigwam, which has the most uncomfortable wooden chairs EVER!!! So it was hard to sit still... Though I must say, I wasn't really that changed, I wasn't really receptive to God's message to me... I've been pretty distant from Him lately, relationship-wise... But what did get to me was our "cardboard testimonies". We watched a video in our Saturday morning session of people who had cardboard signs, on one side was written where they were in their lives, and on the other side was written where they were now. So we did something like that in our Sunday session, but with placemats, cuz we had no cardboard signs lol... So mine was "broken" and "healed in Jesus". I could've put something else, but I did not want to share it with all the other women there cuz I didn't know most of them... But I had talked to Debi about it after we watched the video, and told her what I would put if I was truly honest, and so she knew what I meant by "broken". It was a really good time over all though, there ended up only being 4 of us who made these "cardboard testimonies", but it was good for us to share that.

I totally have more to update about, but I am on my break at the daycare, and I must finish my lunch... Have I written about the daycare yet here? I got full-time hours, working in the baby room, woohoo!!! =D Laters!!!
